Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an evidenced based treatment approach that helps people learn to identify and change negative or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behaviour and emotions.

Why I Use CBT:
​
CBT has been shown to be effective in treating anxiety disorders, depression, alcohol and drug use problems, marital p and severe mental illnesses.

Focus

Some of the areas I have experience in include:

​Romantic Relationships: communication, issues of trust, addiction, separation, gambling, divorce, healthy boundaries, control and abuse, attachment, infidelity, compromise, trust issues, control and abuse

Individuals:  grief, loss, stress, academic stress, anger, emotional regulation, anxiety, trust issues, depression, culture, race, and immigration, concurrent disorders, developmental disabilities, fitness, self-esteem, co-morbid disorders.

Families: problems at school, academic stressors, structure and routine, parent child relationship issues.

My Approach

My approach to counselling is a strength based, person centered and holistic and collaborative. I create a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental space for clients to share their story and be heard. Throughout my counselling session I support my clients by helping them to draw from their strengths, and develop self-compassion as they engage in the therapeutic process.
