About Me

Ever since I was 15 I always knew I wanted to pursue a career that involved helping people make positive changes in their life physically and mentally. Since then I have been pursuing a career path that involved just that.

In 2007, I went to Guelph University to complete my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. While completing my studies I worked as an Early Childhood Educator for 8 years for various daycares (YMCA, Peekaboo, Tiny Tims). I have worked with children from all ages, from infants to school-agers. I mainly worked with people who had behavioural challenges, autism, and other developmental challenges.
After completing my psychology degree I decided to get my personal training and Bootcamp certification with Canfit Pro because physical fitness has always been a huge part of my life. I knew physical fitness was very important in not only having a healthy body but healthy mind.
In 2013 I started working for Community Living North Halton, with children who have autism, behavioural challenges and developmental disabilities. After 3 years I transferred to Adult services and worked with adults who have developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, behavioural challenges and co-occurring disorders.
My experience at Stonehenge Therapeutic Community as a Behavioural Counsellor allowed me to gain extensive experience working with the challenges of addiction. I worked with various people including incarcerated individuals, people who have experienced trauma, human tracking, mental health disorders, addictions and who have complex concurrent disorders.
I went on to complete my Masters in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. During my time there I developed the skills and knowledge to help people get a better understanding of themselves, learn their thoughts, feelings and behaviour while also helping them develop healthy coping tools. Part of that degree included completing intensive internships under the supervision of two psychologists at McMaster University Counselling Centre and a Registered Psychotherapist at Mylife Counselling in Guelph. During my internships I provided individual counselling sessions to students who struggled with academic challenges, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, immigrant challenges, and people from various cultural backgrounds. I also had the opportunity to learn additional group counselling skills on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy under the supervision of my two supervisors.
After completing my Masters I started working for Homewood Health Center as an Addictions Counsellor in the Addiction Medicine Program. During my time spent there, I grew as a therapist and co-developed and co-facilitated psycho-educational groups sessions virtually and in person. I covered such topics as grief & loss, self-compassion, healthy relationships, DBT, CBT, and mindfulness.
My focus and passion now involves helping people through one-on-one counselling and psychotherapy out of three locations in Oakville, Georgetown and Guelph.
Hobbies and Interests
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, working out, trying new healthy recipes, dancing, gymnastics and tennis. Growing up I remember working out to my mom's at home workout videos (i.e., kickboxing videos, Jillian Michael's), playing tennis, dancing and doing gymnastics which I still continue to do to this day. Currently I am being trained in mixed martial arts and love it. Staying active has benefited me in so many ways. It has benefited me physically, mentally and emotionally which is why I try incorporating it into my daily life. Another passion of mine is cooking and eating healthy. In my spare time I like to try healthy recipes that are vegan and gluten free.
